Major US airports could be renamed after Donald Trump

Travelers arriving in Music City may soon be greeted at Trump International Airport.

On Friday, Tennessee Republican Rep. Todd Warner introduced House Bill 217, which would rename Nashville International Airport in honor of Trump.

The bill would require the Metropolitan Airports Authority to take action to implement the name change.

These actions will include establishing a new logo, changing registered trademarks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), amending all existing contracts and legal documents to reflect the new name, and updating references to local, state and federal agencies.

If passed, the bill will take effect on January 1, 2026.

This isn’t the first time lawmakers have pushed to rename an airport after Trump.

As early as April 2024, a group of House Republicans also pushed to rename Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia after Trump.

Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Pa., the top deputy House Republican whip, introduced the bill along with six co-sponsors.

“In my lifetime, our country has never been greater under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump,” Reschenthaler previously told Fox News Digital. “As millions of domestic and international travelers fly through airports, there is no better symbol of freedom, prosperity and strength than hearing ‘Welcome to Trump International Airport’ as they land on American soil.

If passed, it would be the second Washington, D.C., airport named after a Republican commander-in-chief Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia.

Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., agreed with Moore, saying, “I can think of no more fitting recognition than naming two airports in our nation’s capital after two of America’s best presidents: DCA is named after It was named after President Ronald Reagan and Dulles was named after President Trump.
