‘Friday Night Lights’ star was homeless before becoming famous, sleeping on New York subway

Before Taylor Kitsch found fame on hit shows like “Friday Night Lights” and “True Detective,” he didn’t have much luck.

“I was literally sleeping on the subway,” the actor told People magazine.

“It’s a blue train that goes downtown all the way to 182, and at night they change trains and it takes longer, A, C or E,” he told Us Weekly in 2017.

Kitsch, who has only been homeless for less than a month, said things improved after meeting his talent manager.

“She said, ‘What do you want to do?’ and I said, ‘Character pieces,'” he told People. “She said, ‘Well, I’m willing to take a chance on you.'”

“All I’ve ever wanted to do is disappear into different characters,” Kitsch added. “It was never about hosting a show, the spotlight or the money.”

Four years later, Kitsch landed the life-changing role of Tim Riggins on Friday Night Lights in 2006.

“People, for some reason, were really drawn to Riggins,” he told the outlet. “It definitely impacted my life and made everything better.”

Despite her success, Kitsch, who currently stars in the Netflix miniseries “The Originals,” has never been a fan of the glitz and glamor of Hollywood.

Kitsch, who moved to Montana in 2023, told The Hollywood Reporter that same year: “I came into the industry late and I was able to understand who I was and what I needed.”in los angeles It’s never been a good thing for me, but I love being here – there’s so much peace to hold on to. That’s what this place means to me: it won’t solve every problem, but hopefully it will help at least one person move in the direction they need to.

These days, when he’s not working, Keech — who was drawn to Bozeman, Montana because of his interest in wildlife photography — has been focusing on building a space for veterans and the sober/recovery community.

“I’m really excited about it because it becomes a home for people to empower themselves,” said Kitchen, whose sister battled addiction a year ago.

“I didn’t even know sober escape existed until I took a crash course with my sister,” Kitsch tells People. “I was like, ‘Man, giving people a chance to reconnect in nature and slow down sounds incredible.'”
