Carnival Cruise Line fights back over dining complaints

While many passengers view cruises as a time for revelry, some just can’t handle it.
They may be battling health issues or simply want to complete the voyage without taking a step or two back in weight and fitness.
It’s easy to overeat on a cruise, but you, like many others, may find that you exercise a lot more than you would at home. This may not be intentional movement: many people move more on cruise ships because they have to get from one place to another on the ship.

Visiting ports can also be labor-intensive, as sometimes just getting to your travel location requires a lot of effort.
However, many cruise travelers do worry that their cruise will take their diet off track, and many seek support while on vacation. A Carnival Cruise Line passenger recently made a request to brand ambassador John Heald.
Despite the rude wording of the request and the fact that the passenger went out of his way to insult the well-meaning brand ambassador, Heard was as cheery as ever.

Carnival was asked to host a conference
“John, I’m surprised and shocked. You didn’t know WW was there. [original poster’s] Comment. It’s Weight Watchers. I have been a WW member for many years and I want to know why Carnival doesn’t hold meetings during every cruise,” they asked.
Carnival does not ban Weight Watchers meetings or support groups on ships, but does not officially offer such events.
“I cruised 4 times during the WW program and never had any gains, but it was a struggle. John, it helps to have support from other WW members in daily meetings. Not much fresh fruit and veggies either .
That’s when the email writer went from aggressive to ugly.
“You’re Fat John. Say these words out loud and this will be the first hurdle you can jump over and then the hard work begins. WW meetings are required on every cruise and will be greeted by many Carnival passengers Welcome,” they added.
Hilde’s answer was straightforward.
“Thank you guys, and while I don’t think we’ll be doing Weight Watchers meetings on the ship, I think I have to respectfully say that if you want to eat healthy on the ship, you absolutely can. There are lots of vegetables, and There’s a new vegan menu, and plenty of fruit,” he wrote.
The brand ambassador also made a joke.
“Oh, by the way, I know I need to lose weight. I once went to a weight loss conference. I got caught in a thunderstorm on the way home and was soaked to the bone. It was the funniest example of saturated fat I’ve ever seen.” he shared.

Carnival passengers weighed in (so to speak)
Jenny Calfo advised passengers to take matters into their own hands.
“I had an idea — maybe those at WW could create an event and host their own conference,” she said. “People have many choices for healthy eating.
“On some ships, there is a salad bar in the tranquility area. So if you want to build camaraderie on your weight loss journey, create an event on your ship’s Facebook site and open it to accept invitations. Congratulations, you are now Take control of your own life.
Others feel the same way.
“Most people can certainly eat very healthily if you choose. If you’d like to have a Weight Watchers meeting on board, you can create one in your own Facebook cruise group. There are plenty of places for you Party,” suggested Kenna Killion Jackson.
Skip Wagner posted a personal story:
“Just went on a Carnival cruise. My wife is on Weight Watchers. She lost 6 pounds during our 7 day cruise. People on Weight Watchers think body shaming is Disgusting.

Many questioned Hield’s handling of the situation.
“She is such a rude person. So sorry she spoke to you like that,” Cindy Sanitas Stritch wrote. “I help people lose weight for a living and you can definitely eat healthy on a cruise ship and Lose weight. Carnival offers many healthy options every day, no matter where you are. [the main dining room] And Buffett.
