Russia attacks Kyiv with ballistic missiles

Early on Saturday, loud explosions were heard over the Ukrainian capital of Kiev, and authorities warned of incoming ballistic missiles.
At 5:50 a.m. local time, the air raid siren had just ended and a roar could be heard throughout the city. Seconds later, air raid sirens began to sound.
The city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, wrote on Telegram that the country’s air defense system was functioning, warning of the missile threat and urging residents to stay in shelters.
Shortly after, he said emergency services were responding to the fire scene. Four people died, the city’s Regional Military Administration said.
The nearly three-year war began with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and both sides have stepped up their attacks in recent weeks.
