Russia’s nighttime attack on Kyiv kills four, junta says

(Reuters) – A Russian nighttime attack in central Kiev early on Saturday killed four people, the head of the Ukrainian capital’s military administration, Timur Tkachenko, said.
Tkachenko posted on the Telegram messaging app that the death occurred in the city’s Shevchenkivsky district.
Falling debris also hit the Kholosivsky district on the west bank of the Dnieper River, which flows through the capital, and the Denyansky district on the opposite bank, he said.

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said air defense systems were operating around the city.
Klitschko said windows in the Shevchenkievsky district were shattered and windows at one of the subway stations were closed. He said heavy smoke was coming from an apartment building and maintenance crews were sent to repair damaged water pipes.
Authorities warned before the attack about the dangers of attacking drones and missiles. The air-raid warning in the capital was lifted more than an hour after it went into effect.
