California delays tax deadline for Los Angeles County residents after wildfires

Individuals and businesses affected by Los Angeles’ devastating wildfires will be eligible for state disaster tax relief.
“California is taking action to provide relief to state taxpayers affected by these devastating fires,” Governor Gavin Newsom said in a press statement on Sunday. “The people of Los Angeles County have experienced unimaginable tragedy, and the state will continue to do everything possible to help these communities.”

The date for Los Angeles County taxpayers to file their 2024 income California tax returns will be postponed to October 15.
“Our state faces one of the most destructive fires in recent history, one that has claimed lives, displaced thousands of families and left entire communities in ruins,” said State Auditor and FTC President Maria Cohen said in a press release.
The extension applies to:
- People whose tax returns and payments are usually due on April 15th.
- Quarterly taxes are generally due on January 15, April 15, June 15, and September 15.
- Corporate or pass-through entity tax returns are generally due on March 15th and April 15th for businesses.
- Pass-through entity elective tax payments are generally due on March 15 and June 15.
- Tax-exempt organization returns are usually due on May 15th.
