AOC slammed for ‘frustrating’ tirade in House over bill to protect women in sports

Former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines slams New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s ‘disheartening’ tirade on House floor, criticizing Republicans passed a bill aimed at banning boys and girls from participating in women’s sports.
Gaines accused Democrats of staging a “theatrics” following Tuesday’s passage of the Protecting Women and Girls in Sports Act. She went on “Fox & Friends” to dispel far-left myths about the future of sports eligibility.

“If she took two seconds to read the bill, she would know that this … has nothing to do with genital examinations. This has nothing to do with any kind of autopsy,” Gaines told host Lawrence Jones on Wednesday. “This requires a birth certificate and routine physical exams that every athlete must complete before they can compete in their sport.”
“So it’s really frustrating to watch the theatrics from almost all Democrats in the House,” she continued. “Continuing to see them promoting women’s rights, she mentioned the Violence Against Women Act… Do we remember how AOC voted on the Illegal Alien Violence Against Women Act? Because she voted against it.”

All Republican representatives voted in favor of the bill, but only two Democrats — Reps. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, and Vincent Gonzalez, D-Texas Vicente Gonzales voted to pass the bill. All 206 remaining House Democrats voted against it. Democratic Rep. Don Davis voted “present.”
Ocasio-Cortez slammed the legislation, which Republicans say would subject young girls to genital exams, which Republicans claim is completely false.
“Republicans who have consistently voted against the Violence Against Women Act now want to pretend they care about women. Why? Opening up gender testing, and yes, genital testing, to little girls in this country in the name of an alleged attack on trans girls,” she said. “Trans girls are girls.

The bill, if passed by the Senate and signed into law, would prohibit schools from allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports.
Athletes are required to compete on a sports team that matches the gender listed on their birth certificate. Any school that doesn’t comply with the rule will lose federal funding.
it will apply to all federally aided schools Kindergarten through high school, and colleges and universities that receive federal funds.
Despite scrutiny of the legislation from the far left, Gaines insists the issue of protecting women and girls in sports is anything but partisan.
“November 5th clearly taught the Democratic Party no lessons,” Gaines said. “I’m curious about that. Are we going to see people double down on what we saw with AOC, or are we going to see people slowly start to give up on their positions?”

Some Democrats have recently spoken out against their party’s intense focus on inclusivity and progressivism, arguing that the far left leaves no room for dissent on issues like transgender athletes.
Gaines pointed to Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., who has previously publicly stated that he does not support men participating in women’s sports. Although he initially opposed the bill, he did not vote for it, and New York Rep. Tom Suozzi also expressed concerns.
“he [Moulton] The news went on to say, “We as a party have become too radical. I have a daughter. “I don’t want my daughter on the field or on the field with boys,” but even Congressman Moulton was forced to vote against the Protecting Women and Girls in Sports Act,” Gaines said.
“But that tells you something,” she continued. “It tells you that the Democratic Party is more than just a party…they’re a cult, honestly.”
