Cowboys agree to part ways with Mike McCarthy in stunning move: Report

The Dallas Cowboys and Mike McCarthy have reportedly decided to part ways after the two sides were unable to come to an agreement on a contract extension.

McCarthy and the Cowboys are unable to agree on a contract length, and the former Super Bowl champion head coach’s contract is set to expire this week and the two sides will part ways, NFL Network reported Monday.

McCarthy is reportedly expected to draw interest from other teams. The Chicago Bears reportedly asked for an interview with McCarthy, but were denied. Now, McCarthy can interview with the Bears or other teams.

The New Orleans Saints are also expected to be interested in McCarthy, according to ESPN.

He became the Cowboys’ head coach before the 2020 season, succeeding Jason Garrett after 10 years at the helm. Although McCarthy went 6-10 in his first season, he also had some success when the team was healthy.
