Mel Gibson blasts California leaders for ‘falling asleep on the job’ amid wildfires

Actor Mel Gibson has joined a host of Hollywood celebrities calling on the Golden State Warriors to take a leadership role amid this week’s deadly wildfires.
Since the fires broke out on Tuesday, California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles County officials have faced backlash from celebrities for their lack of preparation and response to the crisis as the fires continue to wreak havoc on the region.
The wildfires have killed at least 10 people and destroyed more than 10,000 homes and businesses.
“There was always a suspicion that this could happen. People thought that the resources and capabilities of men and women would be on standby and they would be able to deal with any situation that came up, but obviously there are people who are asleep at work, mainly our leaders there, ” Gibson said Friday on “The Ingraham Angle.”
“But, you know, it’s something that they have to live with and it’s something that the community has to live with, and it’s really sad.”

“It’s tragic. It makes you really sad,” he told Fox News host Laura Ingraham.
“No matter what, I’m going to be blessed,” Gibson continued. “These are things and they may or may not be replaced, but they’re just things and we’re still here.”

Gibson told Newsom to “spend less on hairspray,” noting that he had “little admiration” for the two executives’ leadership.
“California has a lot of problems and people are confused as to why they’re doing these things, and then when something like this happens, you’re like, well — was this intentional? It’s a crazy idea, but people start Think about whether you have a purpose in mind.
