Eaton ordered evacuations after fast-moving fire over Altadena
Firefighters responded to a fire Tuesday night in the mountains above Altadena near Eaton Canyon.
The Eaton Fire has burned more than 400 acres and prompted evacuations west of the Eaton Canyon Golf Course, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
Officials also told people who live on these streets to evacuate immediately: Kinneloa Canyon Road, Outpost Lane, Glen Springs Road, Coolidge Avenue, Roosevelt Avenue, Veranada Avenue, Kinclair Drive, Fox Ridge Drive, Canyon Close Road, Grand Oaks Avenue and east Altadena Drive is located north of New York Drive and west of Sierra Madre Villa Avenue.
The fire broke out in the foothills above Altadena around 6:28 p.m., Pasadena spokesperson Lisa Derderian said, adding that she did not know the exact location of the fire.
Pasadena ordered “mandatory evacuations for the area north of New York Avenue, east of Altadena Avenue and west of Villa Sierra Madre Avenue.” If you are in an evacuation area, bring all necessary items with you so you are prepared to be away for an extended period of time.
Strong winds sparked a devastating fire in Pacific Palisades on Tuesday.
Fire officials said winds were expected to increase overnight.
