18th-century canal embankment collapses after heavy rains

On January 1, the banks of the historic Bridgewater Canal collapsed in Cheshire, England, after heavy rain caused widespread flooding in the area.
J. Taylor said the drone footage he recorded showed fields in the village of Little Bollington being flooded by water gushing from the canal.
The 18th-century canal, formerly used to transport coal but now a recreational waterway, collapsed near Dunham Massey, the waterway’s first major breach in 54 years.
Macclesfield Police said a number of roads were closed and some nearby houses had to be evacuated. Image source: J Taylor via Storyful
