Bomb-making supplies found in New Orleans Airbnb linked to Bourbon Street attack
Authorities are reportedly investigating a truck crash during a New Orleans Airbnb New Year’s celebration that may have been linked to the death of at least 15 people, injuries to more than 30 on Bourbon Street and the discovery of bomb-making materials.
A small fire broke out at a suspected Airbnb home in the 1300 block of Mandeville Street in New Orleans’ St. Roch neighborhood around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The New Orleans Fire Department evacuated dozens of people from nearby homes and contacted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Fox 8 reported.
Sources confirmed to the outlet that bomb-making materials were found at the property.

“They said they found bomb-making materials in the yellow house and wanted the bomb squad to check it out,” neighbor Bob Koenig told Fox 8.
Sources told the New Orleans Advocate that investigators suspect the Airbnb was rented by the late attacker.
Fox News Digital reached out to the owner of the Airbnb rental but did not immediately receive a response.

The FBI said it was investigating an “act of terrorism” that occurred around 3 a.m. when Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old U.S. citizen from Texas, was driving. A Ford pickup truck plows into New Year’s revelers on Bourbon Street. According to the bureau, Jabbar got out of his vehicle and fired at law enforcement officers, who returned fire and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The FBI confirmed that Islamic State flags, weapons and potential improvised explosive devices were found in the vehicle, and that other improvised explosive devices were found in the French Quarter.
A U.S. Navy spokesman told Fox News that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar joined the U.S. Navy in Houston on August 12, 2004, and was discharged from the Delayed Enlistment Program a month later on September 13, 2004, which means He did not continue serving.
The FBI is reportedly looking for associates of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who may have been involved in the attack.
