Awards ceremony in Los Angeles by the beach? Try one on the beach.
The Film Independence Spirit Awards are held in a tent near Santa Monica Pier in bright sunlight (2pm). In the 40th edition, “Saturday Night Live” alumnus Aidy Bryant served as host for the second year, boiling down to shows that commemorate and celebrate independent films and television.
Although there is a big difference between the Independent Spirit Award and the barriers to the trophy given at this time of year, there is indeed a crossover between the film and the Oscar nominations, including “real pain,” “substantially,” “Anora” and “sing.” “However, the ceremony also recognized “real” and “participants,” such as the John Cassavetes Award (used to produce the creative team behind a movie that is less than $1 million) and the first script.
Perhaps because there will be a live show in the afternoon, there is a casual quality in the TV broadcast. But don’t be fooled, celebrities still bring their style ribs, Ms. Bryant said the best in her monologue last year: “I heard that this award is not fancy, but honestly, it’s the top ten I’ve been to The best tent.”
