Two arrested by 19-year-old woman died in suspected XL bully attack
A 19-year-old woman died in an XL bullying attack in a Bristol apartment case.
Southwest ambulance service was called up at the Cobhorn Drive incident in the city’s Hartcliff area around 7 p.m. last night.
The teenager was treated by a paramedic but died at the scene.
Two people, a man and a man in his 20s and a woman, were arrested for suspected dangerous out of control, resulting in death and possession of a banned dog.
Avon and Somerset police said the dog was caught and calmed down.
“The initial report indicated that this might be an XL bully, but confirmed that the breed will form part of the evaluation process,” a spokesperson said.
Neighborhood inspector Terry Murphy said: “Our idea is first to be with the family of the young woman who died tragically last night. They have been updated and will be supported by the family liaison officer.
“I also want to thank the officers and paramedics who attended last night and tried to save lives. Their support was for them.”
Insp Murphy said the attack had been investigated.
She said: “Cobhorn Drive was closed last night as part of this work and I appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding of the understanding we need to do so.
“In the coming days, the area, including neighborhood police, will have an increase in the presence of police officers, and if you have any questions, please talk to them.”
According to changes to the law, starting from February 1, 2024, it is illegal to have XL bullying without exemption certificates.
In the first five months after the ban, dog attacks in England and Wales increased by 9 per cent, according to independent data.
Last month, the police chief warned that the legislation would not be a “all-night fix.”
