15-year-old arrested after shooting in Uptown leaves 15-year-old dead, CMPD says
A 15-year-old teen was shot to death on West 8th Street in a residential neighborhood around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Late Wednesday night, Channel 9 crews observed police inspecting a red SUV following the shooting.
At the time, CMPD said someone left the SUV running while visiting residents in the area. The man told police that when they returned to the vehicle, they found someone inside.
The two then began arguing and shooting. The person found inside the SUV was deceased, according to police.
Major Dave Johnson spoke to Channel 9 about the importance of not leaving a car running.
“Especially in a densely populated area. It’s cold and I know people want to keep their cars running, but if you do that, it’s just going to cause problems. It’s actually illegal to leave a car running, so that’s always a It’s a good reminder,” Johnson explained.
CMPD said they are not actively looking for a suspect in the case. However, all parties involved are being interviewed by homicide detectives.
A man has been arrested and police are being interviewed about charges in the case.
