Authorities say the suspect, a 23-year-old Syrian national who owns a legal residence in Austria, was detained by police after an attack in the city of Villah on Saturday.
Police spokesman Rainer Dionisio said that the motive was not known and the police were investigating the personal background of the alleged attacker.
The victims were all men between the ages of 14 and 32. The two were seriously injured in the attack, and the other two were slightly injured.

The villach council issued a statement following the city attack.
The broadcaster ORF said Mayor Guente strongly condemned the attack.
“Today in villach, we are facing the worst possible situation that can happen,” he said.
