Delta plane flips over while landing at Toronto Airport, injured 8

(Reuters) – Eight people were injured when a plane crashed at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, officials said, and CBC TV reported that the plane flipped when it landed.
Video released by News Channel3 now shows the belly of a Delta Airlines plane covered with snow-covered tarmac, and people left the plane.
Of the eight injuries, one person was severe and the rest were mild to moderate, said Lawrence Saindon, director of caregivers services at Peel Region.

Toronto’s Pearson Airport said it was aware of an incident involving a Delta plane arriving from Minneapolis and an emergency team is responding.
All passengers and crew were explained, the airport said in a statement on X.
Delta representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
“However, we don’t know what’s surrounding it yet,” said Sarah Patten, an officer with the Peel Regional Police Department in Ontario.
“My understanding is that most passengers are not harmed, but we are still working to make sure we are still investigating the site,” Patten said.
The Toronto Pearson Airport website shows four delayed flights depart and arrive at the airport. The Federal Aviation Administration said there is a ground stop at the airport.
The Transport Safety Commission, the Canadian Transportation Safety Commission, an independent body investigating the plane crash, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The crash in Canada comes after a few other recent crashes in North America in late January. An Army helicopter collided with a Washington passenger plane, killing 67 people, and at least seven people died when a medical transport plane crashed in Philadelphia.
